Tips From the Top of the Leaderboard - Overall weightlifting tips
We regularly work with top athletes and each time we ask them 'what is your top tip for people getting in to lifting'.
Each time, we receive some fantastic feedback and we wanted to share some of these tips with you. This page is a list of the overall tips that relate to all aspects of lifting. We will also be posting the specific squat, bench and deadlift tips on our blog.
Donna Bramley - @donnalifts (Instagram):
"You're going to fail. You take that pain and you recycle it. You draw on the pain of failure and use it to push you to your very best"
Liv Winter - @power_liv_ter (Instagram):
"Every successful rep will slightly boost your confidence. Get the reps in consistently and learn to love the progress you've made"
Sharon Eggleton - @princess_of_iron (Instagram):
"Progress isn't always linear. We all have peaks and trough in our training. It's important to focus on the overall progress of your journey rather than individual sessions.
When we view the bigger picture, we can see the upwards progress, but everything takes time. Trust the process."
Mira Taylor - @miralifts (Instagram):
"Everyone's lifts look different depending on their proportions. Don't obsess about your lifts looking like someone else's or your stance being narrower or wider than the norm. Find what works for you."
Kayleigh Noble - @nobliftzz (Instagram):
"Failing is a very common part of any weight training and it sucks! It is okay to have a sulk and to be upset, but don't let it affect your training. With any failure the best thing to do is to learn from it and grow from it and come back and try again. Over time that failure will be long forgotten and you will be smashing weights a lot higher than you could have dreamed about. So be upset, but never give up and never be ashamed because you have more potential than you think and one bad session can't change that!"
We love these tips and hope they help you in your journey and keep you motivated to keep pushing.
